Julie Ragsdale has been a Certified Court Reporter in Independence and the Kansas City area for more than 30 years. In 1979 she began her career working for a local freelance firm. In 1981 she was hired by the Honorable H. Michael Coburn of the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri, as his official reporter. She left in late 1988 and formed Ragsdale Court Reporting, L.L.C. She holds the designations of Certified Court Reporter (CCR) in the states of Missouri and Kansas, Registered Merit Reporter (RMR), Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR), Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC), and has qualified in the national speed contest at 280 words per minute in Q&A and 230 words per minute in literary material. In 2017, she earned the Certified Realtime Captioner certification. She is also a member of the Missouri Court Reporters Association, National Court Reporters Association, and NCRA’s Ethics First program. Ethics First was created to “encourage reporters, firms, and the clients they serve to promote the impartiality and the neutrality of the reporting profession and avoid inappropriate gift giving and gift acceptance.”
